| On Feb. 27 community members gathered at the recently reopened McFarland House in Martinsburg to support Children's Home Society of West Virginia. CHS dollars were won and lost at the 'Ante Up for Kids' casino night, and a great time was had by all. All proceeds went to local programs such as the Martinsburg Children's Shelter, Safe Haven Child Advocacy center, WECAN Mentoring and foster and adoptive services. | |||

- An application by the owners of 409 S. Queen St., to
open the facility for special events and private functions as
McFarland House Events, leads the agenda of the city's Board
of Zoning Appeals meeting tonight.

Their business plan for the Parks-McFarland house, a sprawling 2 1/2-story Georgian-style home at 409 S. Queen St., includes special events such as receptions, weddings and business meetings, private event catering and a gift shop. A nonprofit organization devoted to the support of military families is part of the long-term vision for their venture. |
